LONG BEACH FIREMEN’S MUTUAL BENEFIT ASSOCIATION 

SINCE 1929, THE MUTUAL BENEFIT ASSOCIATION (MBA) COLLECTS, MANAGES AND DISTRIBUTES MONEY AND BENEFITS TO HELP EACH OTHER IN TIMES OF NEED. TOGETHER WE GROW STRONGER FOR THE FUTURE. 

BENEFIT UPDATE 2021 

Widow’s Mite Fund: Provides $25,000 benefit to your named beneficiary in the event of your death ON or OFF DUTY. 

Welfare Fund: Provides 1/2 of top firefighter’s pay to the named beneficiary monthly for 12 months in the event of member death OFF DUTY. 

Station Fund: Assists each station with funds that go towards a mutual benefit for the entire station such as TV’s, cooking and athletic equipment. 

General fund: Provides donations to local charities (LBFF Museum, Search and Rescue, Retired FF Day, etc.), MBA operating expenses, 1/3 total cost of annual retirement dinner (up to a max of $4000), buys flowers and for miscellaneous expenses. Assists in sponsorship for LBFD athletic team up to $250 annually or $50 toward individual sports to assist with registration fees, uniform items or equipment. 

Loans: Provides members interest free loans for medical bills or hardships after all other insurance and benefits have been paid. 

Medical Relief Fund: Provides prescription eye-glass benefit for members up to $250 every two years. Provides limited dental benefits for members on x-rays, extractions and oral surgery up to $350 every two years. Will not cover deductibles or co-pays.
