#LongBeachFirefighters were deployed as a Strike Team to assist with the #AppleFire in Riverside County by Cherry Valley. This fire has 0% containment and evacuation orders in place for residents of the area.

We also have members assisting with other fires at the #JulyComplexFire in Northern California and #DamFire in the Angeles National Forest.

We want to send our prayers and condolences to our brothers and sisters from United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, IAFF Local-112 and the family of FF/PM Jose Perez for their loss to COVID-19.

Firefighters are on the frontline of this pandemic and continue to serve the residents of our communities knowing the dangers of this virus. Please social distance and wear mask.

COVID-19 Claims Life of LAFD Firefighter
LOS ANGELES –

It is with profound sadness that the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) announces the death of Firefighter III/Paramedic Jose M. Perez, who passed away at a local hospital from complications of COVID-19 on Saturday, July 25, 2020.

Firefighter/Paramedic Perez had been with the Department for 16-and-a-half years. He was 44 years old. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Station 11 performing a Ladder Pick-Off Operation.

This operation is used to provide a high point utilizing the ladder of the truck for a rope rescue to get our stokes basket to victims that are in need of urgent medical care.

Utilizing rope with pulleys and mechanical advantages #Firefighters are able to perform the rescue. This is a team effort that requires every member to work together to accomplish the rescue.

4th Annual Fallen Firefighters’ Memorial Golf Tournament presented by the Long Beach Firefighters’ Memorial Association.

This event will be a fun-filled day of golf, great prizes, and plenty of food and beverages on the course. We will also present an evening of very entertaining auction events and a reception to follow.

What the event will look like might be different from our traditional event but the cause for raising funds remains as important as ever. It will be held at the exclusive and beautiful Virginia Country Club in Long Beach ‪on Monday, September 14, 2020‬.

We are looking forward to building upon the past three years of success to continue to support firefighter non-profits, charitable organizations, and other worthy events within our community. Equally important, the proceeds will help further our mission to promote camaraderie amongst our members, bring our families together, and support our members in their times of need.

7 years ago today the fire service lost 19 Firefighters from the Granite Mountain Hotshots at the Yarnell Hill Fire in Arizona. Today take a moment to remember those lives lost and the ultimate sacrifice they made. #granitemountainhotshots

Most of us are familiar with CrossFit and Hero Workouts. A “Hero Workout” is a workout dedicates in the memory and honor of someone who has given their life in the line of duty, or in service to our country.

We have put together a Hero workout for Dave that we will do on 6/25 at Horny Corner, at 9AM.

All are welcome to participate.

No registration is required, but we are selling shirts, challenge coins, and stickers to commemorate the event.

Another successful coordinated effort between #LongBeachFirefighters and LA County Mobile Stroke Unit. This unit was put into place to rapidly respond and treat possible stroke patients. Thank you to Supervisor Janice Hahn who championed this unit to be put into service.

Repost from United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, IAFF Local-112 - The world saw the massive fire on Saturday night in Downtown Los Angeles where it took 230 LAFD Firefighters to extinguish a huge commercial fire and explosion in less than two hours.
Fortunately, it appears that all of our Firefighters will survive this fire.

Unfortunately, nine of our LAFD Firefighters are still in the hospital, some in critical condition, as they all face a a long and grueling road ahead filled with multiple surgeries, recovery at the Grossman Burn Center, and lifelong injuries - some of which may prevent them from returning to the profession that they love, caring for the people of Los Angeles.
In 2019 the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City (UFLAC) started a 501C3 charitable foundation with ZERO overhead, so that every dollar collected goes directly to our LAFD Firefighters and their families in need.

For those who feel inclined to support these Firefighters- all of whom worked at Fire Station 9 in Skid Row in some of the toughest conditions imaginable for any Firefighter in America - please take a moment to click on the link below to make a contribution that will go directly to these Firefighters and their families.
Whether it goes to pay for their out of town families to be near them at the Hospital and Burn Center, or helps to fund college for the children of those Firefighters who are no longer able to work again, EVERY DIME will go towards these brave first responders who nearly gave their lives on Saturday night to protect Los Angeles.
